Manchester Metropolitan University will strengthen ties with digital marketing agency The Media Octopus this year.
The Manchester-based agency will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate learning by providing industry knowledge and resources to the university’s digital marketing courses.
Jeff McCarthy, a Senior Lecturer in Digital Marketing at Manchester Met said: “It is really important that we collaborate with industry professionals like TMO.
“It helps us to develop the employability of students and to teach them about the journey that lies beyond their degree.
“Michael (Winniczuk, TMO’s Founder) is a good influence for our students, particularly because he left Manchester Met as an accountancy grad but went on to build a business in an entirely new industry. It proves to our students that they are not limited”.
The relationship follows the agency’s attendance to several careers events hosted by Manchester Met, including an employers’ presentation late last year. TMO also took part in a networking cafe for marketers, alongside IBM, Laterooms and Smoking Gun PR.
Managing the relationship on the agency side is Head of Strategy Andrew Colwell. He said: “We are delighted to be working with Manchester Met this year.
“The university’s business faculty has a burgeoning reputation for developing insightful and innovative programs, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to work in partnership with them.
“This will not only be a mutually beneficial endeavour for Manchester Met and TMO, but for students going on to work for likeminded UK businesses”.
